Extensive Dual‑Camera System
The MediaTek Helio P30 is a powerful photographic device without the high‑end price tag. MediaTek’s Imagiq 2.0 integrates premium, hardware‑backed dual‑camera features that deliver exceptional photographic quality and experience to mainstream smartphones.
Its 16+16MP dual‑camera system, powered by two 14‑bit ISPs, supports a combination of wide and telephoto zoom lenses for real‑time depth‑of‑field effects, zHDR, and improved real‑time noise reduction in low‑light conditions for both photography and video recording.
Optical zoom functionality enables sharp images at up to 10x zoom (depending on device lens selection), allowing greater versatility from wide/panoramic shots to telephoto. The integration of 2x1 PDAF and EIS 3.0, with an embedded RSC, ensures excellent image capture quality even when in motion. A single-camera mode supporting resolutions up to 25MP is also available.
Never miss a spontaneous moment with MediaTek's Instant Auto Exposure (AE). The dedicated hardware Camera Control Unit (CCU) provides significantly faster focal correction and exposure adjustments when lighting conditions change suddenly. AE convergence speed is up to twice as fast as competitive auto exposure systems.
Key Features
The new Vision Processing Unit (VPU) is a dedicated 500MHz DSP paired with the Image Signal Processors (ISP), offering a specialized processing platform for numerous camera features, thus freeing up the CPU and GPU to save power and computing resources.
Key advantages include:
- Functional Flexibility: The VPU allows brands to customize camera functionality and drive product differentiation.
- Significant Power Savings: The VPU performs real-time processing tasks that were traditionally handled by the CPU or GPU, but with only a fraction of the power usage.
- Performance Boost: The VPU can operate independently or in collaboration with the CPU and GPU, creating a true heterogeneous computing environment on the same memory subsystem for advanced multitasking and multi-function applications.
The eight ARM Cortex-A53 processors can operate at up to 2.5GHz, while MediaTek's CorePilot technology ensures sustained high performance and a consistent user experience, delivering a 20% improvement over the previous generation P-series. Similarly, GPU performance has increased by 25%, thanks to the new Mali-G71 MP2 running at 950MHz.
Both are supported by a fast 2x 1600MHz LPDDR4x subsystem, which accommodates up to 6GB of memory. Product designers can choose between cost-effective eMMC 5.1 or the latest UFS 2.1 storage interface, depending on market requirements..
Powered by a 330MHz ARM Cortex-M4 with 512kB cache, this widely-used ARM M-core is both programmable and flexible, allowing brands and application designers to easily customize functionality while consuming minimal battery life.
Software features include A+G+M/9-axis sensors, pressure and ALS/PS sensors, pedometer, activity tracking, gesture recognition, MPE, FLP, VOW, and sensor fusion capabilities. The sensor hub also features a non-DSP-based smart power amplification function, supports low-power DRAM access, and is compatible with Android N’s Hi-Fi sensors.
MediaTek’s latest generation 4G LTE WorldMode modem, with a second generation Envelope Tracking Module (ETM 2.0), focuses on a low power design that sees a 3-6% advantage over the previous generation built on the same process technology.
Performance is balanced between download and upload, offering a unique combination of Cat-7/13 speeds at 300Mbit/s download and 150Mbit/s upload. TAS 2.0 smart antenna technology further adds to MediaTek’s sustained performance and user experience goals, by using the best antenna combination to provide optimal signal quality.
In addition, diverse connectivity and location services are included: GNSS, Bluetooth, FM radio, and fast 433Mbps 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
